A short series of figurative studies produced in ink, over various OS trench layouts dating from around 1914-1918 (these are reproductions, not originals). The primary purpose of these maps was to plot the positions of enemy artillery and other strategic locations. The BBC released an interesting documentary on the story of Ordnance Survey, which explores the history and technique of the trench maps – more info on the programme here.
Originals currently exhibited at the Mike Wright Gallery.
